  1. I like it, but what I would like even more is the mermaid picture you promised me...two years ago!

    I agree that work is needed on the neck...maybe thinner? Also looks like he has a circular blob above his forehead...needs better transition.

  2. What do people lock onto with a face? I think it's often the eyes, but when I go past first thoughts, I'm more convinced we latch onto the points or landmarks of the human face and form a notion of identity by how those predictable elements differ from what we accept as a "norm". Nobody can dispute that I have a huge forehead, for example!

    All this is to suggest: who is this person? Worry less about getting every fold exactly right. Concern yourself with identifying this person. Look at some Depression Era photos of farmers by Dorothea Lange.

    And when you feel you've caught the personality--even if you aren't 100% sure--it's time to stop. Don't get caught up in the rendering! :)
